Our commitment

We are committed to making this website usable for as many people as possible, including people who rely on assistive technology such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, or screen magnification. Accessibility is part of how we think we should treat people, so we work to keep it in mind as we build and update the site.

The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These are the guidelines most widely used to make web content easier to perceive, operate, and understand. We treat this as a target we work toward, not a one-time guarantee. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and a website is never truly finished, so we expect to find and fix issues over time as content changes and as we learn about new barriers.

Measures we take

To make the site more accessible, we work to do the following:

We use semantic structure, with real headings and lists, so the page makes sense when read in order or navigated by a screen reader. We add descriptive alt text to meaningful images so people who cannot see them still get the information. We aim for color contrast between text and its background that meets the Level AA contrast ratios. We build pages so they can be operated with a keyboard alone, not only with a mouse. And we use a responsive layout that holds up when the page is resized or zoomed, so people can enlarge the text without losing content or function.

How to report an accessibility problem

If you run into a part of this site you cannot use, or anything that is hard to read or navigate, we want to hear about it. Please tell us what page you were on and what went wrong, and we will do our best to fix it and to help you get the information you need in another way in the meantime.
